Lake’s Winter Insole is a layered package that creates an insulating barrier, keeping the heat generated by your body inside the shoe and the cold outside the shoe. The outer felt layers wick away moisture and keep the foot feeling dry, a second radiant reflective layer helps keep heat and cold from transferring through, while the inner core of air pockets creates an insulating barrier so that the heat or cold cannot be conducted.
I recently purchased these for my new MX146 shoes. As they go under the existing foot bed they make the shoe unwearable for me, and I have relatively narrow feet. I used them twice before removing them as they created pressure points and cut circulation putting areas of my feet to sleep. What Lake needs to do is design a warmer replacement footbed that doesn’t so drastically reduce the inner volume of the shoe. A waste of money for this rider.
With lake size 46 shoes I didn't need to cut the soles. You feel the difference in temperature although they don’t help preventing cold toes. Bit pricey, but I can recommend them.
I now have warmer feet, but beware, the shoes will change in size due to tye sickness of the sole.
