Very pleased with my new Lake CX 403 shoes.
I followed the heat molding process twice to get the fit correct while using my trainer the second go around.
My initial molding left me concerned with some pressure points and not using the trainer and standing there existed some concern. Once I clipped into my pedals all pressure points vanished, the shoes fit perfectly, forming to my feet unlike any pair of shoes previously used. The fit while standing is a bit disconcerting and not perfectly comfortable, but after several hundred miles of riding, simply love the shoe. Plenty of room in toe box, yet very secure in connecting to the bike. Coupled these shoes with my new Pinarello F and am extremely happy with the ride. I would highly recommend to those who are micro adjusters as the latest BOA fastening system allow for great adjustability. A bit pricey, but well worth the cost if you spend enough time in the saddle to know what quality, comfort and connection to the bike really means

I am very happy thus far with my CX 403 shoes! On my first long ride with them I did develop some lateral foot pain like I was getting with my old shoes, but since then have not had any pain. I did do the oven molding but will possibly do that again. Thank you Lake!!

A perfect shoes for bike

Nothing to say about Lake shoes: absolutely perfect. I've bought 7 or 8 shoes of Lake, from the first edition only white and red. The best shoes in the bike world (5 stars), but i can't say the same about the customer service (1 star).

Good afternoon, Daniele.
Thank you for the kind comments about the shoes.
I would however like to better understand what issues you had with our customer service.
We try our best to always provide helpful and professional customer service.

Best regards,

The Lake Team

Best shoes on the market

I have used many shoes. Sidi’s last well, shimano were just reliable, Mavic were rubbish.
These are on a totally different level to them all.
The best shoes you will ever wear for cycling. Superbly stiff without discomfort, fantastic range of cleat positioning, a lovely closure system that applies even pressure.
You will not find a better shoe.

Super deceiving -- most comfortable cycling shoe for a wide foot

It took me a few weeks to decide to spend the money on these shoes.. I've purchased at least 4 other pairs of shoes that claim to have high volume, reviews state that they have wide feet, and like the shoe.. but I sent every one of them back. I could tell after clipping in that they were going to put my feet to sleep like all the rest.

My feet are Frankenstein wide. if I draw the outline on a piece of paper and measure them, they are 295 long, and 130 wide. If I use the cycling shoe sizing wizard on another site, after entering my dimensions, it just says "call us for options". In the product description, it looked like these shoes have a stated width support of up to 111.8mm for my size -- so I was still concerned that I was going to be unhappy with them, but decided to pull the trigger anyway.

When the Lake CX403 arrived, I was cautiously optimistic.. and then all my hopes and dreams were shattered when I put them on, and they were far less comfortable than any other shoe to date. I thought for sure that I'd made a mistake.

I decided to go ahead and just follow the heat/sizing instructions and see what happened. Initially, it was painful, trying to force my heel in to a narrow crevasse, but as I put slight pressure in each direction, it widened out and eliminated the pressure points. it took me two times on each shoe, but I finally got to a point where I felt like "okay, these might be good" and i put them aside until tomorrows ride.

The next morning, I slipped on the shoes, and tightened them down like I'm used to (good snug fit) and as I was walking around the room, I was still concerned that I had all these pressure points on the bottom of my feet, and there was no way they were going to work. However, after clipping in, and getting in to a correct pedal position, all those points melted away, and my feet did indeed feel like I was "wearing slippers". a product claim that I originally thought was probably a stretch -- Nope.. not a single pressure point, or anything digging in to my feet.

As I peddled 10 miles, 15 miles.. getting close to my hour ride, I felt that both of my feet were a little "tired" and I remembered reading that because of the snug heal fit in the formed shoe, you don't need to synch the laces down as much as you do on other shoes. I reached down and backed the BOA off on each side a click or two, and was happily surprised to feel my feet come back to life, and my heels didn't slip at all for the remainder of my ride.

I'm only one week in to wearing them.. but in the last year, there wasn't a single ride where i didn't get off the bike with achey, asleep feet. In the last week, that's happened zero times.. so I think I can say they were worth every penny.

After putting them on, and walking around the room, they are still fairly uncomfortable.. but once you clip and start peddling, they're the most comfortable shoe that I've worn by far.
