The unique boot shape allows for us to trap warm air, which is the best insulator for any type of footwear. The MXZ304 continues to be the top winter specific cycling shoe of choice.

Sizing Suggestion: For use with winter weight socks we recommend ordering 1-1.5 size up from your normal Lake Cycling shoe size.

Winter Last – With a much wider & taller toebox than our traditional lasts, the Winter last allows the foot to maintain proper circulation even when thicker socks are worn. Our winter last is the standard for winter cycling footwear.

The uppers are treated with a durable water resistant (DWR) coating that will wear away over time. We recommend reapplying a DWR spray 1-2 times a year for moderate riders and every 2-3 wet rides for daily riders.

Best investment for the winter

I'm riding with the MXZ 304 boot for a year now and I wished I ordered them earlier. My feet stay dry and warm, even with temperatures below zero! A must have for the winter. I ordered one size bigger then my other lake schoes!

Disappointed

Warm boot but the sizing is off compared to other Lake shoes. They run at least a size smaller. Also, it's time to say goodbye to the Boa system for anything above the ankle. They stay tight for a few minutes and then loosen up completely. Useless system. At least there is a forefoot velcro strap to hold things together lower down. Please go back to straps and buckles!

Great Shoe! But…

I live in Idaho so winters are long. I needed a shoe which wasn’t as heavy or insulating as a 45nrth boot. This shoe fits the spot BUT size up. 1-1.5 bigger. Im a 44.5 and ordered a 45 regular and cant even fit a toe warmer. So size up and widen up for wool socks. I used it 20-25 degrees and it did well. Just had to use a normal sock so after an hour the toes started to suffer. I might try using a turkey bag but i still need so size up for max comfort. Besides running small… its a perfect shoe for 20-30 degrees. Lower than 20 will require your favorite trick for keeping you warm. Mine is wool socks and turkey bags.

Loved these for cold, winter riding of my fat tire bike

The 304's are warmer than my Scarpa approach/hiking boots that I would otherwise wear. I can ride in the 304's for 2 hours in 25F temperatures - but my feet are getting cold towards the end of two hours. When temps get down to 0F, I was able to ride for an hour, using the heat pads made for feet. I did need to order up 3 sizes larger than normal (I normally wear a 47 and had to get a 50 wide). The Boa system works - some complain it breaks, but I rode 40 times over the winter and the Boa held up fine. The 304 boots are initially SUPER tight to put on (like putting on a ski boot for the first time of the season), but once you are in, they feel fine. After a few rides, the boots were broken in and were easy to get on - with plenty of room in the toe box for heating pads. The thermal reflective insole is great. As far as an update to the boot's design, I'd get rid of the provisions on the sole for clipless pedal cleats - those are going out of style as most of us have migrated to platform pedals. I had to purchase the Syksol cover pads for the cleat area. The Vibram sole tread is very deep and picks up rocks and snow, but works well in compact snow when you need traction for a quick dismount. I'd love to see a lithium-ion powered electric-heated insole option, and/or an optional neoprene toe cover for temps 25F and below.

Highly impressive winter boot

The quality and fit is absolutely perfect. Highly impressed by this boot. I am normally a size 43 Wide in Lake MX shoes but am a size 44 Wide in the MXZ 304 boot (with thick socks). Five stars for sure!
