Followed sizing guide and ended up 1 to 1-1/2 size too small. Have now wasted $45 in shipping costs on two pairs of shoes with the prospect of another $30 outlay if I try another go at it.
Before buying this shoe, look closely at how long the tongue is and the lack of cuts/grooves cut into the end of the tongue like there are with Lake's more expensive model that prevent the tongue on this model from not digging into the top of the foot when pedaling. If I could send these back after a single 30 minute ride, I would, because they are extremely uncomfortable but Lake's return policy is such that if you even add a cleat, tough luck, customer! So if you do order these, note how the end of the tongue digs into the top of your foot when you stand up. It's something you'll notice on the bike on every pedal stroke. $250 down the drain on a poorly designed pair of shoes. Maybe Lake should test their products before they sell them.
Finding shoes that fit and fit well is difficult for me. I do not have a large bike shop with many options (none in my size), so it's online. That's tough when shoe sizing varies SO MUCH between companies. Lake had the perfect tools to help me find my size, select my features and had options at a variety of price points. These shoes fit as advertised and are very comfortable and surprising light and stiff. I would highly recommend these or any Lake shoe that works for you (and they will let you know the ones that do!!!).
Has everything thing you need and nothing you don’t, all in a comfortable and relatively inexpensive package.
