Welcome to 2025 – from all the team here at Lake

May the New Year bring you peace, love and lots of cycling

Welcoming in a New Year is always a significant moment. It gives all of us a point of reference in time, from which we can move forward, set new challenges and take on new adventures. It also allows us the opportunity to reflect on the journey that we’ve taken to arrive at this point in time. Lake Cycling Shoes will be 43 years of age this year; having been born on the shores of Lake Michigan, at Evanston, Chicago, Illinois, way back in 1982.

We still have an office in the windy city, led by Chris and the Lake team for North America. However, over the interim years, we’ve become one of the leading cycling shoe brands in the world – and cycling shoes have changed, alongside the dramatic changes to the world in which we live and ride. For us, 2024 was filled with innovation and growth, as we fitted out even more cyclists, on road and trail, with some of the most comfortable cycling shoes in the world. Gravel continued to grow, and we released our new MX20G and MX30G, gravel biking specific shoes.

A time to pause & reflect

However, whilst we were busy innovating, and you were riding those trails on your own adventures, elsewhere in this often-chaotic world, some people were not so fortunate - with conflict and tragedy to deal with. Even within cycling, we continued to witness tragic events, with the loss of too many young lives within the global cycling family. And so, yes; as we pause to reflect this New Years, it’s also a time for us to take a moment to remember those lost, and those whose lives are still disrupted by the continuation of conflict and tragedy, not of their own making – the innocent people who all too frequently get caught up in such events.

It reminds us to use the New Year to set a new goal for positivity. Ultimately, when we wake up healthy and safe in our own environments, we owe it to ourselves and to others less fortunate, to ride into adventure and to seek those new challenges – to make the most of the 86400 seconds that we are given each and every day. The most precious gift that we have or can give to others is time. It’s even more precious than a pair of some of the world’s most comfortable cycling shoes!

We developed our new gravel biking shoe range, such as the MX238G, to support those who seek adventure; and as we continue into 2025, we promise all of you that we will continue to innovate in cycling shoe design, bringing you even more performance orientated options to wrap your cycling feet in our legendary comfort. All that we ask of you is that you live a life filled with smiles and positivity, and that you carry an altruistic approach to others in your hearts.
